The French Tennis Federation has unveiled the list of main-draw wild card recipients for the highly anticipated Roland Garros tournament. Notably, veteran players Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka headline this year’s selections as they prepare for their final appearances at this prestigious clay-court Grand Slam before retiring at the end of the season.
Gael Monfils, aged 39, has a rich history at the French Open, having reached the semifinals back in 2008 and achieving three quarterfinal finishes in his career. However, Monfils has experienced a challenging season in 2026, securing only three match victories and plummeting to world No. 222 in the ATP rankings.
Likewise, 41-year-old Stan Wawrinka brings his own impressive legacy to the tournament, having clinched the French Open title in 2015 and reaching the final in 2017 against Rafael Nadal. Wawrinka has seen some success this season with six ATP match victories, although he has yet to win a match on clay.
In addition to Monfils and Wawrinka, the wild card entries include Moise Kouame, Arthur Gea, Hugo Gaston, Titouan Droguet, Nishesh Basavareddy, and Adam Walton on the men’s side.
The women’s draw has also welcomed several wild card recipients: Clara Burel, Ksenia Efremova, Fiona Ferro, Leolia Jeanjean, Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomango Rajaonah, Alice Tubello, and Emerson Jones are set to join the competition.
As these players prepare to take to the iconic clay courts, the excitement surrounding the tournament continues to build, with both long-standing favorites and emerging talent looking to make their mark at Roland Garros.
