The Miami Dolphins suffered a major blow last Friday against the New York Jets.
In a game at MetLife Stadium, Dolphins edge rusher Jaelan Phillips tore his Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season.
Where the game was played is significant because this is not the first time a player tore his Achilles at MetLife this year.
Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers did the same thing in Week 1, and many players have spoken out against the playing surface at MetLife.
Sadly, Phillips will miss the rest of the season.
But, he did take the time to report some good news on his surgery.
Phillips tweeted: “Surgery was a success!!”
Surgery was a success!! Day 1 of many 🙏🏾 I’m built for this

That is great news for Phillips and every Dolphins fan.
Having a successful surgery is the first step of the process.
Now, Phillips has a long recovery and rehab ahead of him before he can take the field again.
Losing Phillips for the season left a void in the Dolphins’ defensive line.
Phillips had 6.5 sacks across eight games this season and he was well on his way to a career-high in that category.
Now the Dolphins will have to move on with their season without their leading pass rusher.
Miami will have to count on Christian Wilkins and Bradley Chubb to pick up the slack in Phillips’ absence.
Those are the only two Dolphins players with 6+ sacks this year outside of Phillips.
The Dolphins are still a team with Super Bowl aspirations.
But, there will be plenty of pressure on their defense to hold up come playoff time.
