Jamie Carragher applauds Manchester United forward Rasmus Højlund – Latest Updates on Man United’s News and Transfers

Video: Rasmus Hojlund steps up his recovery ahead of return to action after international break - Man United News And Transfer News

Jamie Carragher has expressed growing confidence in Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, asserting that the 21-year-old is beginning to fulfil the expectations his £72 million price tag set.

Hojlund joined United during the summer transfer window of 2023, making an immediate impact with 16 goals in his debut season.

A hamstring injury during pre-season limited his appearances to just six matches this term.

Despite these challenges, Hojlund’s recent performances have caught the eye, particularly his goals against Porto in the Europa League and his stunning victory against Brentford.

In his analysis on Monday Night Football, Carragher highlighted Hojlund’s growth as a player, specifically noting his commendable display against Porto.

“I think he’s starting to look a player,” Carragher stated, praising Hojlund’s work ethic and overall contribution.

“There’s real talent in the front three, but the man who gets the winning goal, I think he’s starting to look a player.”

The Liverpool legend emphasised the effectiveness of United’s front line, which includes Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Alejandro Garnacho.

Hojlund himself acknowledged the influence of Ruud van Nistelrooy, United’s assistant coach, on his development.

“Working very close with him is a big, big step for me,” he noted, emphasising his desire to learn and grow as a striker.

Reflecting on his recent performances, Hojlund conveyed his relief at regaining fitness after an injury-plagued start to the season. “It was very good to play with all the lads from the beginning at Old Trafford,” he said.

His skill and dedication could prove crucial as the team aims to rediscover its winning form.
