Liverpool’s Alisson Becker a Target for Juventus
Juventus has set its sights on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, considering him a “dream target” as the Brazilian is reportedly open to returning to Italy this summer.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed that the Serie A club has prioritized acquiring a top-tier goalkeeper for the upcoming transfer window.
Previously with Roma before joining Liverpool in 2018, Alisson has expressed an interest in the move back to Italy. Although he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury, it has not diminished his reputation as one of the top goalkeepers in the sport, leading Juventus to prepare a robust bid for his services.
Romano: Alisson Becker Interested but Will Honor Liverpool
While Alisson is considering a return to Italy, he does not intend to force a departure from Liverpool. Romano mentioned on social media that the 33-year-old appreciates the potential move but holds “great respect” for Liverpool, planning to discuss his future in collaboration with the club.
“Juventus is keen on acquiring a top goalkeeper this summer, with Alisson as a prime target. Liverpool has extended his contract until 2027, but discussions with Alisson and Mamardashvili’s representatives are expected in the coming weeks. Alisson is intrigued by a return to Italy but respects #LFC and wants to evaluate his future together with the club,” he stated.
Liverpool recently activated a one-year extension to Alisson’s contract, securing his services until June 2027, which gives the club significant leverage should they opt to sell.
However, earlier reports indicate that Alisson might already have reached an agreement on personal terms with Juventus, putting the onus on Liverpool’s management.
The Risks of Selling Alisson
Letting go of Alisson could pose a major risk for Liverpool. He has been instrumental in the club’s recent successes, helping secure several titles, including two Premier League championships and the Champions League trophy.
As an exceptional shot-stopper, Alisson is regarded as one of the best in one-on-one situations in the world. Despite Giorgi Mamardashvili’s presence, Liverpool’s defensive stability greatly relies on Alisson’s capabilities.
Replacing his leadership and experience would be a daunting task. With Mohamed Salah set to depart at the season’s end and Andy Robertson also leaving as a free agent this summer, the team risks losing significant figures in their locker room. This further underlines the importance of retaining Alisson for the foreseeable future.
