Klay Thompson has struggled mightily this season and his poor form has led many to speculate about his future in Golden State.
Fuelling the speculation further is the fact that Thompson will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
But according to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, Thompson is unlikely to leave the Warriors any time soon (or ever, for that matter).
“To be clear, the Warriors do not want to trade Klay Thompson. They have no desire to do it,” Lowe said. “I would bet heavily against it ever happening.”
Thompson is averaging just 15.7 points per game this season on 40.6 percent shooting from the field and 36.1 from behind the three-point line.
Both shooting clips are career lows, and his scoring average is the lowest of his career outside his rookie season.
Making matters worse has been the Warriors’ struggles as a team, currently sitting 11th in the Western Conference with a 9-11 record.
Golden State is ranked 15th on offense and 17th on defense as they look to get their season back on track.
