The 40-year-old’s current contract is set to expire this summer, but the club plans to retain him for a sixth consecutive year at Old Trafford.
According to reports from the Daily Mirror, this new deal could keep him on the team until 2027.
Although this decision might appear puzzling initially—given Heaton’s infrequent appearances for United, with his last game played in the League Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest in 2023—there is a clear rationale behind it.

Heaton’s retention is not due to any expectation that he will reclaim the top goalkeeper position. Rather, his value lies in his extensive experience, respect within the club, and the leadership role he plays in the locker room and during training.
