Premier League clubs Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea have expressed interest in acquiring Maxi Araujo from Sporting CP in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to the Portuguese newspaper A BOLA, Sporting CP is not looking to part ways with Araujo, as they are willing to offer him a salary increase to retain his services. His current contract includes an €80 million release clause, and it remains uncertain whether he will agree to a new deal with the team.
Maxi Araujo Might Consider a New Challenge
The prospect of joining the Premier League could intrigue the 26-year-old left-back. Araujo is at an optimal stage in his career, making this an ideal moment for him to embrace a new challenge.
Manchester United is in need of enhanced quality in the left-back position. With Luke Shaw nearing the end of his career, Araujo could serve as a perfect successor. Besides being a solid defender, he also contributes significantly in attack. This season, he has recorded 13 goal contributions, and his performance could improve further if he plays alongside higher-caliber teammates.
Potential Interest from Chelsea and Arsenal
Chelsea might benefit from bolstering their left-back options, especially if Marc Cucurella departs the club this summer, as there are rumors surrounding his exit from the London side.
For Arsenal, the chance to join the reigning Premier League champions could be appealing, yet with a solid defensive lineup already established, Arsenal might face challenges in guaranteeing Araujo a starting position. The developments in this situation will surely be of interest in the upcoming transfer window.
