The Liverpool forward has experienced a public dispute with manager Arne Slot this season.
The Egyptian international found himself dropped from the starting eleven due to a decline in his performance and did not hesitate to speak out against the manager at that time. It was reported that they reconciled later, leading to Salah’s return to the starting lineup.
Salah expresses dissatisfaction with Slot
Despite this reconciliation, Salah still seems unhappy with how he has been managed. In an interview with former Liverpool great Steven Gerrard, the forward aimed a subtle jab at Slot.
While they discussed their assist records for Liverpool, Gerrard humorously noted that Salah has more assists because he was occasionally forced to play as a right back. Salah replied with a jest about having to take on that role this season.
Salah’s performance under scrutiny
Slot’s conservative tactics have faced backlash, with many attributing Salah’s lower level of performance to this shift in strategy. Last season, Salah enjoyed greater freedom in an advanced position, whereas he has been restricted this year. His comments during the interview reflect his frustration towards the managerial approach.
Salah has made the decision to leave Liverpool this summer after a notable career with the club. Fans had hoped he could conclude his time there on a high note, but the disagreements with Slot may cast a shadow over his final season.
