The 2023 NFL season has been an odd one for the New England Patriots, and not in a good way.
Heading into Week 12, the Patriots are one of the worst teams in the entire league, with an abysmal 2-8 record, and any chance that they had of making the playoffs this year went out the window a long time ago.
On Sunday, New England will return from their bye to take on another weaker team in the New York Giants.
Some have wondered if the Patriots were going to continue with Mac Jones as their starting quarterback this weekend, and even though it seems like that will probably be the case against the Giants, the New England locker room reportedly still hasn’t been told who will be starting under center for the team on Sunday (via ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter).
Signs continue to point to Patriots’ QB Mac Jones starting today vs. the Giants, but as of Friday, the players still had not been told which QB it would be.

In 10 games this season, Jones has completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,031 yards (203.1 per contest), 10 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, which has amounted to an underwhelming 80.2 passer rating.
Despite his struggles, the Patriots have kept him in the starting lineup for every game during the 2023 campaign, but it’s not like they really have any better options at the quarterback position.
Second-year signal-caller Bailey Zappe has appeared in three games for New England this season, but he clearly hasn’t been able to do enough to convince the team to give him a chance to start over Jones.
The Patriots also have rookie quarterback Malik Cunningham on their practice squad, but he’s still too raw for the team to put him in the starting lineup.
So after a week off, will things look any different for Jones on Sunday?
