We are now officially into Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season. Who should you be looking to spend significant FAAB on this week, and who should you be looking to let others in your league go after? Let’s break down the top waiver wire options and who to add to help improve your fantasy football roster.
Week 13 Fantasy FAAB Picks and Advice
Quarterbacks
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Mayfield hasn’t been lighting up the scoreboard recently, but he has an excellent matchup in front of him this week against the Carolina Panthers’ defense. Assuming that he’s good to go after suffering an ankle injury in Week 12, Mayfield is the top streaming option at the position.
FAAB recommendation: 3%
Gardner Minshew, Indianapolis Colts: Minshew has done just enough to keep himself in the low-end streaming conversation, and he has a fine matchup in front of him in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans’ secondary. If you’re in a deeper format and looking for a replacement for Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen or Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson this week, Minshew is a fine pivot play.
FAAB recommendation: 2%
The Best of the Rest: Kenny Pickett (PIT), Matthew Stafford (LAR): 1% FAAB bid recommendation
Running Backs
Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts: We’re at the point of the fantasy football season where I want to load up on handcuff or insurance RBs on my bench.

There’s very little value in holding onto a player who will most likely not see your starting lineup ever, so dropping them for someone who has immense upside if the starter above them were to go down with an injury is a wise move.
Update: With the news that Jonathan Taylor will undergo thumb surgery and will be sidelined for 2-3 weeks, Moss instantly becomes the top waiver wire option for Week 13.
FAAB recommendation: 20-30%
Ty Chandler, Minnesota Vikings: Chandler didn’t get a ton of opportunity in Week 12, but he showed off his explosive playmaking ability. The Minnesota Vikings have their bye in Week 13, but there’s the potential that he continues to see even more work as the season moves along.
FAAB recommendation: 5%
Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys: The same thought process applies to Rico Dowdle as it did to Moss above. Being able to secure the next man up for the Dallas Cowboys’ offense in the event of a Tony Pollard injury is a smart move to make now that will cost you next to nothing.
FAAB recommendation: 5%
The Best of the Rest: Tyjae Spears (TEN), Samaje Perine (DEN), Jeff Wilson Jr. (MIA), Roschon Johnson (CHI): All below 5% FAAB recommendation
Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers: Reed just continues to produce. He’s now found the end zone in three straight weeks, and Jordan Love is looking his way in key situations. He’s now in the low-end WR3/high-end Flex conversation week in and week out.
FAAB recommendation: 8%
Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers: We’re not going to have Palmer back and available any time soon, but I want to add him now before he gets back on everyone’s radar. The Chargers desperately need him in the lineup, as they’re dealing with inconsistency from every other receiver not named Keenan Allen, and he could easily be in the WR2/WR3 conversation into the fantasy playoffs.
FAAB recommendation: 5%
Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders: Samuel has solid performances like what he showcased on Thanksgiving, and then he simply disappears for the next few weeks, routinely. However, if we’re going to continue to see QB Sam Howell throw the ball 40-plus times every week, all three of the Washington Commanders receivers are worth rostering and potentially playing as Flex options.
FAAB recommendation: 5%
The Best of the Rest: Demario Douglas (NE), Noah Brown (HOU), Jalin Hyatt (NYG), A.T. Perry (NO), Khalil Shakir (BUF): All below 5% FAAB recommendation
Tight Ends
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers: Welcome back to the lineup, Mr. Freiermuth. An incredible performance from the tight end with 120 receiving yards in Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals should put him squarely back into the low-end TE1 conversation moving forward. He needs to be picked up everywhere.
FAAB recommendation: 10%
The Best of the Rest: Cade Otton (TB), Tyler Higbee (LAR), Juwan Johnson (NO), Tyler Conklin (NYJ): All below 5% FAAB recommendation
