Manchester United is one of the clubs eyeing a move for free agent Adrien Rabiot, but the French midfielder’s wage demands are proving to be a stumbling block.
After his contract with Juventus expired at the end of the 2023/24 season, the 29-year-old became a free agent. Despite Juventus’ efforts to retain him, Rabiot declined their contract offer.
Rabiot remains a sought-after player in the free agency market, with Manchester United showing interest in acquiring his services.
However, negotiations between the English club and Rabiot have hit a roadblock due to the midfielder’s high salary expectations, as reported by Football Insider.
According to Calciomercato, Rabiot is insisting on a salary of €10m per season and a €15m signing-on bonus, in addition to agent and mother Veronique’s commission.
Despite efforts by Rabiot’s representatives to secure him a new club, his demands are proving to limit his options, with Saudi Arabia possibly being the only realistic destination.
What Lies Ahead for Adrien Rabiot, Manchester United’s Target?
Rabiot’s predicament has become a hindrance for him, as his search for a new club resulted in his exclusion from the latest French national team squad, despite his involvement in Euro 2024.
The talented midfielder, who enjoyed a successful spell at Juventus last season with 35 appearances, five goals, and three assists, is attracting interest from clubs, but financial matters are currently the main obstacle.
While it’s understandable that Rabiot seeks a lucrative contract for what could be the final one of his career, his salary demands are hindering his chances of securing a new club, a crucial step for the player’s future.
