Di Marzio: Kulusevski Committed to Tottenham
Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has given Tottenham fans a small reason to be optimistic, stating that Dejan Kulusevski is likely to remain with the club next season, even if they face the shock of relegation to the Championship.
The North London team currently occupies the 18th spot on the league table, with only six matches left to secure their place in the Premier League.
After a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sunderland in Roberto De Zerbi’s first match in charge last Sunday, the atmosphere has become increasingly tense at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
While a significant turnover of players is anticipated this summer, Di Marzio suggests that the Swedish international is dedicated to the club’s future.
Kulusevski’s Potential Role in Spurs’ Future
In an interview with bettingsidor.se, Di Marzio highlighted that Kulusevski’s attributes make him a prime candidate to spearhead a reconstruction of the team.
Di Marzio stated:
“I truly believe Kulusevski will remain at Tottenham, even if they are relegated. He sets a positive example for his teammates, and Roberto De Zerbi appreciates him. His mentality is exactly what they need, so I foresee Kulusevski being a key figure in their plans, irrespective of whether they play in the Premier League or the Championship.”
“De Zerbi will actively seek to keep him. He values players with strong identities and personalities. He will certainly make every effort to retain him.”
Injury Troubles for Kulusevski
This affirmation is particularly noteworthy considering the 25-year-old’s challenging season, marked by injuries.
Kulusevski has not participated in any matches since May 2025, following a serious right kneecap injury sustained against Crystal Palace.
He underwent a minor operation in March 2026 to address the joint, and he is now approaching a return to fitness, although it’s unlikely he will play again this season.
When healthy, his talent is unmistakable, having been one of Spurs’ standout players. Last season, he contributed 10 goals and 11 assists, playing a pivotal role in securing the Europa League trophy for the team.
In total, during his 146 appearances for Tottenham, he has netted 25 goals and provided 30 assists, earning accolades from notable figures like Pep Guardiola.
If Kulusevski stays with the club following potential relegation, he is bound to be an integral part of the effort to regain their place in the top flight next season.
