The NFC South is a mess, but the Atlanta Falcons somehow find themselves atop the division despite being under .500.
The Falcons are an interesting team to watch as they typically struggle offensively, but they somehow find ways to make plays when it matters most.
The defense has been the true strength of the roster during the 2023 NFL season, though head coach Arthur Smith is more known as an offensive innovator.
Smith has drawn plenty of criticism over the season because of his unwillingness to feature his star pass-catching options Drake London and Kyle Pitts.
However, it’s hard to argue with the results as Atlanta is looking like a serious threat to win the division and sneak into the playoffs.
Desmond Ridder has been through numerous ups and downs this year, but he revealed what it’s like to play under Smith via The Jim Rome Show.

Ridder confirmed that Smith is a tough, gritty coach who demands the most out of his players though that’s earned him the respect of the locker room.
While the outside world might not like how Smith likes to manage games, Ridder and company have taken his lead and as a result are competitive against nearly every team.
The second-year quarterback also revealed that Smith didn’t baby him and forced him to learn the offense and play calls without the assistance of a wristband.
With a few weeks left in the regular season, Ridder and Smith have a chance to shock the league and make the postseason.
