It’s another solid weekend in Europe that starts right away on Friday in Italy with title-contending Juventus and continues strong throughout. Let’s see what we have:
Friday
Monza v Juventus – 2:45p on Paramount+
Weston McKennie and Juvetus played to a draw with Inter Milan at home last weekend and stayed within two points of the league leaders. McKennie started and went the full 90 minutes while Tim Weah remains out due to his hamstring injury.
Saturday
Bayern Munich v Union Berlin – 9:30a on ESPN+
Brenden Aaronson and Union Berlin managed to pick up their first Bundesliga point since August last weekend when they drew 1-1 with Augsburg. Berlin remain in the relegation zone and the task won’t be any easier this weekend as they take on Bayern Munich.
RB Leipzig v Heidenheim – 9:30a on ESPN+
Lenard Maloney and Heidenheim snapped a two match losing streak with a scoreless draw at Bochum last weekend. They’ll now face a RB Leipzig side that lost to Manchester City in Champions League play midweek and Wolfsburg in league play last weekend.
Borussia Monchengladbach v Hoffenheim – 9:30a on ESPN+
Joe Scally, Jordan Pefok and Borussia Monchengladbach look to bounce back from 4-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund last weekend when they face John Brooks and Hoffenheim on Saturday. Gladbach had jumped out to a two goal lead 28 minutes into the game but coughed up three goals in the final 15 minutes of the half to go into the locker room down a goal. Brooks was back in the starting lineup for Hoffenheim, after two matches on the bench, as his team played to a 1-1 draw with Mainz last weekend.
Bochum v Wolfsburg – 9:30a on ESPN+
Kevin Paredes came on and played the final 17 minutes for Wolfsburg as they closed out a 2-1 win over RB Leipzig this weekend. This weekend they will face a Bocum side that is just two points out of the relegation playoff spot.
Burnley v Sheffield United – 10a on Peacock
Auston Trusty has started six straight matches for Sheffield United. The team has just one win and a draw in those six matches but those four points are four times more than they had earned in their first seven matches. Sheffield as still squarely in the relegation zone and it’s likely they will remain there for the entirety of the season but in the meantime it looks like the American centerback will continue to get some Premier League experience. The team face last place Burnley this weekend.
Nottingham Forest v Everton – 12:30p on NBC
Matt Turner’s Forest lost a second straight match while giving up three goals. They are starting to get dangerously close to the relegation zone and Turner has not played since a 3-0 loss to Liverpool four matches ago.
AC Milan v Frosinone – 2:45p on Paramount+
Christian Pulisic and AC Milan are coming off a tough 3-1 loss to Borussia Dortmund in Champions League group play that put a serious dent in their hopes of advancing to the next stage. In league play they defeated Fiorentina last weekend to pickup two points on Inter and Juventus. They will face 10th place Frosinone on Saturday.
FC Cincinnati v Columbus Crew – 6p on Apple TV MLS Season Pass
The Eastern Conference Final will be a battle for Ohio as Matt Miazga and Cincinnati, who finished the regular season with the best record in the East take on Aiden Morris and the Columbus Crew.
LAFC v Houston Dynamo – 9:30p on Apple TV MLS Season Pass
In the Western Conference Final it will be Kellyn Acosta, Timothy Tillman and LAFC playing host to the Houston Dynamo.
Sunday
Feyenoord v PSV – 6:15a ESPN+
If you’re more of a morning person Sergino Dest and PSV will look to continue their perfect run in the Eredivisie on Sunday morning. Ricardo Pepi headed home the winning goal for PSV in their 3-2 comeback win over Sevilla in Champions League play on Wednesday though he is still looking for his first start for PSV.
Liverpool v Fulham – 9a on Peacock
Tim Ream, Antonee Robinson and Fulham will have their hands full this weekend as they take on Liverpool who are coming off a 1-1 draw with Manchester City. Fulham defeated Wolverhampton last weekend and currently sit in 14th place.
West Ham United v Crystal Palace – 9a on Peacock
Chris Richards is looking like he could use a move in a month when the January transfer window opens. He has just one start and four appearances through his teams first thirteen matches this season. Crystal Palace have been struggling themselves with back to back loses to relegation threatened Everton and Luton Town the past two weeks.
Monaco v Montpellier – 9a on beIN Sports
Folarin Balogun picked up his first goal in six weeks last weekend in what ended as a 5-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain. PSG were already up 4-1 at the time of the goal but perhaps it will give a boost to Balogun’s confidence heading into the team’s matchup with Montpellier on Sunday.
Bayer Leverkusen v Borussia Dortmund – 11:30a on ESPN+
Giovanni Reyna and Borussia Dortmund have won their past two matches, including Tuesday’s 3-1 win over AC Milan in Champions League play, but the tests don’t get any easier this weekend as they face league leading Bayer Leverkusen who they currently trail by 10 points in the Bundesliga standings.
Augsburg v Eintracht Frankfurt – 1:30p on ESPN+
Paxten Aaronson continues to see at best a handful of minutes off the bench. His Frankfurt side are currently in seventh place, within striking distance of the European competition qualifying positions. They face Augsburg this weekend, a team four points behind them in the standings.
