Travis Kelce Is Close To Breaking Jerry Rice’s Playoff Record

While there have been countless elite wide receivers in NFL history, most people will agree that Jerry Rice was in a class of his own.

The legendary wideout was not only spectacular to watch but also incredibly productive.

Rice’s numbers cleared the rest of the pack, and so did the tape.

Now, however, Travis Kelce could finally take him down in one category.

According to Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is just six catches behind from tying him in on all-time postseason receptions (151).

Kelce and Patrick Mahomes had already established the mark for the most touchdowns by a quarterback-receiver duo (16), and they’re not done yet.

The future Hall of Famer is also second to Jerry Rice in playoff receiving yards (1,694).

As for Rice’s 2,245 receiving yards, he’s definitely going to need at least another postseason trip to get it done.

Perhaps one of the most impressive things about Kelce’s postseason dominance is the fact that he’s done this mostly without playing in the Wild Card round, so he’s had one fewer game than most players.

Mahomes’ Chiefs are just 2-0 in the Wild Card round despite reaching the AFC Championship Game six years in a row, and that speaks volumes of how dominant they’ve been over the past couple of years.
